General Biology, as the basic course taught in first semester for undergraduates majored in chemical biology, will be focused on the introduction of basic biological knowledge, inspiration of learning interests, and training of intellectual philosophy. Considering the background of audience, the course will be taught in a logic knowledge system, ranging from molecule, cell, and organ in the beginning, to individual and social organization and activity in the last. The traditional knowledge, such as classification and evolution in plant and animals, will be introduced in details for building solid biological background, and the new scientific progress, such as molecular and cell biology, will also be touched for an easier extensive study in the future. In general, by this course, the students will be able to establish their own recognition on biological science in a more professional way, which will be a critical beginning step for their more specialized study in the future.
