Research Interest
Current research interests cover green chemistry, catalysis, and CO2 chemistry (CO2 activation and catalytic conversion into fuels/value-added chemicals; in situ transformation of CO2: combination of CO2 capture and subsequent conversion to chemicals and fuel-related products in a carbon neutral cycle), catalysis in green solvents and biomass conversion (castor-related energy), and green technology related to desulfurization.

Scientific Achievements & Selected Publications
Prof. Liang-Nian He received his Ph.D. from Nankai University in 1996 under the guidance of academician Ru-Yu Chen. He then worked as a Chinese postdoctoral fellow with academician Ren-Xi Zhuo at Wuhan University. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the National Institute of Advanced Science and Technology (Japan) from 1999 to 2003 before joining Nankai University in April of 2003. In 2009, He was selected as “Chutian Scholar” Distinguished Professor.
Now Professor He is a Professor of Chemistry at Nankai University, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC, from 2011), Bentham Ambassador (2016) and He became one of Most Cited Chinese Researchers, Elsevier in 2014, 2015 and 2016, “the top 1% of highly cited Chinese authors in RSC journals in 2014, 2015 and 2016”, and got the third-class award for Nature Science of Tianjin in 2015. Prof. He has authored over 200 scientific publications including Angew Chem Int Ed., Energy Environ Sci, Chem Commun, Org Lett, Green Chem, ChemSusChem, Adv Synth Catal, Environ Sci Technol, J Org Chem, J Catal, and held 23 patents. He also edited 15 books and chapters (ACS book series, John Wiley & Sons, Springer, Elsevier,CRC Press Taylor @ Francis) and delivered more than 60 invited lectures at international/national conferences, universities, and research organizations.
Now He also serves as a Series Editor of “Green Chemistry and Sustainable Technology” (Springer) and on the Advisory Board of the new book Series published by CRC Press “Green Syntheses”. He is an editor-in chief of “Current Organic Synthesis (Bentham Science)” and on the editorial board of several international scientific journals, e.g. “Journal of CO2 Utilization (Elsevier)”, “Current Opinion in Green and Sustainable Chemistry (Elsevier)”, “Sustainable Chemical Processes,” “Current Organocatalysis”, “Current Catalysis”, “Min Reviews in Organic Chemistry”, and is an associate Editor of “Sustainable Development” (in Chinese) and a member of the Ionic Liquids Professional Committee and Chinese Fine Chemical Committee, an academic member of Key Lab of Low carbon and green process of Guangdong Province. In addition, he serves as a referee for leading journals in the fields of chemistry, green chemistry, catalysis, and environmental science.

Professional Cultivation
20 students have obtained PhD degree and 15 students have got MS degree.

In addition, two foreign postdoc researchers, Dr. Sébastien Chanfreau and Dr.Vincenzo Rosario La Franca Pitarresi have worked in my group.
