March 8, Professor Douglas Stephen of the
University of Toronto, Canada, academician of the Royal Society of Canada,
Fellow of the Royal Society, visited the "Centurial Nankai forum", delivered
the speech with the theme of "The expansion of the reactive mode of the
FLP system" in Balitai campus, Nankai University, bringing a wonderful
academic report to teachers and students. The seminar was presided over by
Professor Cui Chunming, laboratory director of the State Key Laboratory of
Elemento-organic Chemistry( Nankai University).
In the lecture, Professor Stephen
introduced the concept of Frustrated Lewis Pair (hereinafter referred to as
"FLP"), citing the research results in the field of FLP in recent
years, including the reduction reaction of FLP participation, the activation
reaction of small molecules and the related mechanisms. Then, they introduced the
new FLP catalysts their group recently developed and the prospect of FLP
chemistry.
Finding and reporting the first compound
with FLP properties, proposing the concept of FLP, Professor Douglas W. Stephan
is the founder of FLP Chemistry. He was invited to publish review articles in
journals like Science, J. Am Chem.
Soc. Angew.Chem.Int. Ed, with over 90
patents and more than 470 papers, cited 27,000 times (H-index 83). Professor
Stephen also serves as editor-in-chief of Chem.
Soc.rev. (impact factor: 40.182)
Professor Stephen also visited the state
Key laboratory of Elemento-Organic Chemistry and held talks with some experts
and scholars from the College of Chemistry of our university and the State Key
Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry.
